Penn National Gaming (Penn) Rushes Against Clock
While the actual table games themselves sat just over the Maryland boarder Wednesday morning, Penn National Gaming (PENN: 22.62 -1.95%) took possession of its West Virginia license just after midnight and ushered in the trucks.
Penn National was not able to pay the West Virginia Lottery Division the required $1.5 million licensing fee until after the start of the state’s fiscal year, which began July 1. However in order to keep the casino on track with its launch of craps, roulette, poker and other long awaited table games Lottery officials were on hand at midnight to except the check and grant the license.
Following inspection from Lottery officials the casino was able to go live with all the games by Friday evening.
Upon state approval, the casino plans on phasing in up to 112 gaming tables including 27 poker tables prior to July 9.
With the launch of the table games the Charles Town Races & Slots officially unveiled the re-branded racetrack and gaming parlor as the Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races.
